چکیده
Mycotoxins are by-product of fungal growth which occur naturally in a range of plant products. Due to ingestion of mycotoxins from feed by food producing animals, mycotoxin residues may occur in their products like milk, egg and meat. Mycotoxins have received considerable attention due to their significance in agricultural loss and human health. Amongst the mycotoxins that are known to cause human diseases, aflatoxins have been studied most. Aflatoxin was discovered some 30 years ago in England following a poisoning outbreak causing 100,000 turkey deaths. Aflatoxins are secondary metabolites of the fungi Apergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. These moulds are common contaminants of feed ingredients, particularly in the tropical regions. Fungi produce aflatoxins in the presence of higher moisture, temperature and adequate substratum. Synthesis is highest when humidity is above 13% and temperature is ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 2 Number 5 (2013) pp. 373-377 http://www.ijcmas.com

AIM Detection of aflatoxin B1 in Livestock compound Feed and feed ingredients by high-performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC). MATERIALS AND METHODS Chromatography was performed on HPTLC silica gel 60 F 254, aluminum sheets by CAMAG automatic TLC sampler 4, with mobile phase condition chloroform:acetone:water (28:4:0.06). Extraction of aflatoxin B1 from samples was done as per AOAC meth...
متن کاملMycobiota and aflatoxin B1 contamination of rainbow trout (Oncorhinchus mykiss) feed with emphasis to Aspergillus section Flavi
In the present study, mycobiota and natural occurrence of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in pellet feed and feed ingredients used in a feed manufacturing plant for rainbow trout nutrition was investigated. The samples were cultured on the standard isolation media for 2 weeks at 28 ºC. Identification of fungal isolates was implemented based on the macro- and microscopic morphological criteria. AFB1 was d...

متن کاملIdentification of Aflatoxin Contamination in the Milk of Cows Fed on Moldy Dry Bread as a Part of Their Ration
Introduction: Contamination of foodstuffs with fungi and the toxins produced by them is a very important problem in human and animal feeding. In most villages around Shiraz, in small-scale dairy farms, dry leftover bread which is mostly contaminated with fungi is used as a part of food ration for animals. The thin-layer chromatographic method which was used for determination of aflatoxin. Inges...
متن کاملEvaluation of Contamination of Aspergillus flavus and Aflatoxin Production in Pistachio Cultivars and Investigation of a Chemical Controlling Method
In order to study the contamination of Aspergillus flavus and aflatoxin production in pistachio cultivars in the Semnan province, eight cultivars of pistachio were collected from major pistachio growing areas. Using the serial dilution method, ground pistachio kernels were inoculated on plates containing AFPA medium and incubated at 28° C. This experiment was performed using three replications ...
